Admitted to the Bachelor's course Composition for Film and Theater.
Students are introduced to various Classical and Jazz/Pop ArtEZ ensembles and learn how they function.
Relation to other modules
This module is related to the first year's general introduction.
Students pick two Jazz/Pop and two Classical ensembles from a list of ArtEZ ensembles, which they visit while examining the instrumentation, repertoire, notated music (if any) and modus operandi.
Subsequently, they hand in a short report of each band visit.
Mode(s) of instruction
In a virtual classroom video conference students discuss with their instructor or via video tutorials learn how the interaction, notation, and communication of different ensembles function. E.g. like Rock Ensemble, Latin Band, Jazz Ensemble, Big Band, Woodwind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, String Quartet, Chamber Orchestra, String Orchester, Symphonic Brass Orchester, Symphonic Orchester.
Examination and assessment

The CFT main subject teacher assesses the review sessions.
Students need to carry out the ensemble visits according to instructions, and make a satisfactory contribution to the review session. Their reports should also be up to standards.
The student has completed this module if he is awarded a minimum grade of 5.5.
The CFT main subject teacher assesses the ensemble visit verbally.
This module allows students to acquaint themselves with the culture within various ArtEZ ensembles and fellow students through visiting several Classical and Jazz/Pop ensembles.
