Students prepare an audition, dealing with all aspects relevant to the audition: selecting pieces, writing new material (optional), arranging pieces, choosing other band members, rehearsals, organizing instrument set-up (where necessary) and stage presentation.
All skills, aims and contents of the entire study curriculum are relevant to the audition. If the student graduates at the end of the fourth year, the audition takes place in a concert hall. In all other cases, the audition will take place in a classroom and no technical support will be offered.
It is normally possible to combine final auditions, with two or three students auditioning in one performance. Students interested in this can contact the educational office. There the request will then be examined to determine whether it is organizationally feasible, especially if the appropriate committee members can be present at the same time. Combined auditions take slightly longer; 30 minutes (playing time) extra per additional student.

Students independently organize all aspects relevant to performing the audition.

Audition for a panel of three to five teachers. As a rule, two of the panel members are teachers of the student's main subject (if this cannot be arranged, two or fewer panel members are teachers of the student's main subject). The audition is usually a public concert. If the student graduates at the end of the fourth year, such a concert takes place in a concert hall. In all other cases, the audition will take place in a classroom and no technical support will be offered.

Creativity, expression, improvisation, ensemble playing, interaction, harmonic possibilities, accompaniment, tonal balance, technique, sound, intonation, timing/tempo control, rhythm, reading skills, stylistic coherence, repertoire choice, set list, attitude, performance, preparation and (optional) arranging/composing.

The panel members separately use an outline of relevant criteria to assess students per criterion, expressed in terms of + (satisfactory), +/- (uncertain) or - (unsatisfactory) with the average assessment (more pluses than minuses constitute a +, more minuses than pluses a -, as many pluses as minuses a +/-) being used as the personal final assessment per panel member. The chair collects these five assessments. Students pass this module if they receive more pluses than minuses.
